Music | Falling Slowly with Glen Hansard and Lisa Hannigan

Hi everyone. I have decided to go with something a little different for todays post.  I love music and for obvious reasons have an affinity with Irish artists the most.  I just wanted to share this video with you.  Falling Slowly is one of my favourite tunes ever and I am guilty of listening to it a few times a day every day, I love it that much.

The song was originally written and performed by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova but this performance with Lisa Hannigan has always been my favourite.

The song is featured in the 2007 film Once, which starred Hansard and Irglová, and for which it won the Academy Award for best original song at the the 80th Academy Awards.  I have also included the lyrics, hope you enjoy.

I don’t know you
But I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me
And always fool me
And I can’t react
And games that never amount
To more than they’re meant
Will play themselves out

[Chorus]
Take this sinking boat and point it home
We’ve still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You’ll make it now

Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can’t go back
Moods that take me and erase me
And I’m painted black
You have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It’s time that you won

[Chorus]
Take this sinking boat and point it home
We’ve still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You’ve made it now

Falling slowly sing your melody
I’ll sing along

Not the song I thought it was (granted I’m terrible at remembering songs without music :p) But this was very cool and I kind of love Irish accents and Irish music. I’ve been getting into a lot of Irish rock lately. It’s so unique. ^.^ Though, you don’t seem like the type to listen to rock. :/
